OXLEY DOWNS

What a great spot is Oxley Downs!
In 2003 a series of episodes were made of people living at Oxley Downs which went to air later and has subsequently been re shown and then DVDs made. The series was called Outback House.
The deal was to build the whole farm as if it was 1861. It was furnished largely with genuine furniture and farm equipment from the period. People were selected to work on the station for the three month period while life on the "living" property was filmed. What an experience!
Oxley Downs was constructed on a property belonging to Scott and Liz Tourle about 40 km from Dubbo towards Yeoval. They now manage Oxley Downs and open it to the public several times a year. And it was open this Easter!
What an education for people to come and see this property. What a great idea by the English firm that came up with the idea in the first place. What a fantastic time it must have been for the people who were chosen to spend 3 months of their lives here on Oxley Downs in "1861". No electric shavers, or toaster or computer or clothes with zippers. No pizza or Maccas. No TV or sound system! No cars or modern medications. No digital camera or motorbike. No running water.
Do you think you'd have managed to survive three months working on the property?
Thanks Liz and Scott for showing us round Oxley Downs. Photo #2 has been "borrowed" from the Oxley Downs website. Others were taken over the Easter weekend.

IT'S FRIDAY, SUNDAY'S COMIN'

Above - a whole bunch of Fridays!!

Well, things are a bit quiet at present. Peta and Jon’s wedding is over, they’ve had their honeymoon and we have a few things ahead:

  • Thur 27 Mar - Bike Friday gathering in Cowra
Wed 2 Apr – Visit to my dentist (Phil) in Tumut
Sat 5 Apr – Liz’ wedding in Cooma
Sat 12 Apr – Stuart & Bec’s wedding in Wollongong
Sat 19 Apr – Bill departs for Canada

After these events we will head to Busselton, Western Australia for the annual Avan rally. We’ll probably depart about 21 April…. Just depends on Reidy.

I’ve been getting right into the cycling this week… 60+ on Mon and Tue and then 103 on Wed. (That’s km of course.)

Tomorrow (Good Friday) is a special day for me. It’s the day we remember the death of Jesus. He died an horrific death on the cross a couple of thousand years ago. Thanks goodness … I mean… thank God he rose again!!!

Here are the words to a couple of songs we sang today (yes, I'm adding this on Good Friday!)

It's Friday.... but Sunday's comin'!!!

ABOVE ALL

Above all powers, above all kings

Above all nature and all created things

Above all wisdom and all the ways of man

You were here before the world began

Above all kingdoms, above all thrones

Above all wonders the world has ever known

Above all wealth and treasures of the earth

There's no way to measure what you're worth

Crucified

Laid behind a stone

You lived to die

Rejected and alone

Like a rose Trampled on the ground

You took the fall And thought of me Above all

WORTHY IS THE LAMB

Thank you for the cross, Lord
Thank You for the price You paid.

Bearing all my sin and shame, In love You came

And gave amazing grace.

Thank You for this love, Lord,

Thank You for the nail-pierced hands.

Washed me in Your cleansing flow,

Now all I know: Your forgiveness and embrace.

Worthy is the Lamb

Seated on the throne,

Crown You now with many crowns You reign victorious,

High and lifted up Jesus, Son of God,

The darling of heaven crucified.

Worthy is the Lamb.Worthy is the Lamb.
